How to Tie a Cow Hitch Variant Knot

The knots used for our tree swing.
Attractive, strong & easy to tie.
Scroll down for step-by-step photos of tying a Cow-Hitch
Variant.
Feeder is supported by
Cow Hitch Variant Knot at top.
I really like this
knot for hanging an
object from a limb or
other support.

VARIANT
KNOT TYING
INSTRUCTIONS. |
Demo'd on a 1x5"Oak board. |

For purposes of
discussion/clarity, the part of the rope shown in my left hand in
this picture is the stationary rope.
Step 1: Pass rope over object and
back underneath toward you. |
 |
|
Step 2: Pass rope around
the front of the stationary end, through the opening between the
ropes and then.... |
 |
| Step 3: Wrap it around the stationary
end again and go under the object and back over the object towards
yourself. |
 |
|
Step 4: After coming back
over piece as shown above, pass this end down beside the stationary
part passing through the loops you made when you wrapped the
rope around the stationary part. |
 |
| Step 5: Pull piece through and try to
keep the ropes beside each other instead of crossing each other.
For example, as pictured to the right: the two pieces on top
of the board are not crossed, they are beside each other.
Step 6: Pull tight. |
