BARN RENOVATION PAGE 2

Pour the Floor!

I'm sure you've seen the proceeding page on how we got to here.  If not and you you want to know how we got here click here and that page will prompt you back to this one.

Let's pour a floor baby! Been waitin' for this moment...
Dad & I can barely believe that...in the next moment we will start pouring the floor!  We're both a little nervous & excited.  Only about 100 or so wheelbarrow loads of dirt, dust & manure & building a rock solid form (we hope) and we're ready to pour the floor .  Oh yeah, here it comes!  That's Graham Gibson (Heather's boyfriend) with dad & I.    He is one great worker (not to mention a really good guy).

John Stoltz work'n it.  Way to go bud! Cheeseballs.

The form is a bunch of cut up 2x4's and OSB.

Mean looking bunch, huh?

Daniel getting some hard to reach places. Time to remove that wall in front of me.  See next pane. Now time to get rid of this old brick foundation.

After the floor dried we built this low wall form for yet another cement wall.  This one will also help control the run-off from the road.  As you can see if you click on the picture, liberal use of the rebar is key for connecting the cement walls to each other.  Freedom thinks he looks really good in front of the new walls.
Strating the OSB board on the back wall.  If you expand the picture you'll see the old cut marks in that old upright beam (I mean old).  I'm good at screwing things up.. Notice, trusty Hold-It on drill.
Three Habitat Restore windows.  We used a total of 5 windows from Habitat for this space.  Total cost $80. Finishing off the OSB on the front side.

Dad & Mike are digging a VERY LONG & DEEP trench for getting heavy duty power to the shop. Video:  Push play to see them filling in the trench.  It is time-consuming work!

Summer turns to fall.  Damn this is taking a long time! Dad electrifying things.
Dad's been getting busy.  Outlets everywhere!  At least 6 different sets installed while I was away partying for the weekend.  Oh yeah!

But I don't remember hiring a shadow worker.

the Shop Cat Too cute.
Planer has arrived.  Built some steps in back corner.  Gonna start renovating the connected room when I finish the shop part. Look at the 5 big lights dad installed in the ceiling.  Okay, it's start'n to get a bit crowded in here!  Bosch portable table saw pictured.  This thing is great.   Totally portable, totally strong, totally useful.

2 things here:  1: Front door right behind Freedom.   2:  The big opening has to go.  We were going to put doors but now we need the wall space more.

He's waiting.

I'm building an insulated door for the front here.  Door is ready for closing up.   You can see where I added some nailers where the hinges will go. Yes, the nailers are in the wrong place! And, yes, I had to move them later.  Get over it!...I almost have.

Front door & front window are up & tight at this moment.  Gonna fill in that hole on the side wall now.

This place is starting to look like we had a plan and knew what we were doing all along!
